When You Shoot a Zebra in the Black Stripe the White Dies too
Note from editors: Due to that this article agitated our readers way beyond our expectation, comments on this controversial post is blocked. Ayyaantuu does not promote religion or region. It promotes only Oromummaa, no less no more.

Many commentators either have misunderstood or misquoted Jawar Mohammed. He plainly stated that the Oromo Struggle and the Ethiopian Muslim Protest complementary to one another. He said clearly the two don’t contradict each other. Islam had been weak following its introduction in the northern parts of Ethiopia. As it gradually had penetrated into Oromo Land, the Raaba Doori, the military force of the Gadaa System, defended it. And Islam became part of daily life for many people in Biyya Oromoo/Oromia. It is, therefore, impossible to separate Islam and oromummaa since they have been interwoven. They are two sides of a coin. Even Mahatma Gandhi, one of the fathers of a non-violence movement remarked “those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is.” Read more…

Letter of Appeal From the Oromo Refugees in Egypt
Letter of Appeal | June 17, 2013
We, members of the Oromo Community in Cairo are out of our home, camping in front of the UNHCR office in Cairo since last Sunday (09/06/2013) when we went out for demonstration in front of the UNHCR office in Egypt to present our security concern peacefully because of the escalating harassment and physical attack on members of our community from the Egyptian ordinary society who felt angry and started attacking members of our community after Ethiopia announced diversion of the normal flow of the blue Nile River to build the so called renaissance dam in Ethiopia. Lets please listen to Ragaa Oromia
Yaadasaa Dafaa | June 16, 2013
ODF,
One of the pervasive issues in the struggle of the Nation of Oromia for emancipation from this centuries-old, and backward colonization of the Abyssinian regimes, remains to be the failure of ODF to fully realize the connections that cements Orommummaa, and the struggle for the Independence of Oromia. All the internal problems created by these sell-outs not only stagnated the struggle itself, but facilitated the gap for all the internal enemies who are bending over to dissect, and destroy the Liberation journey that this Nation had embarked upon since it’s formal occupation by the Abyssinians invading armies. Urgent Appeal regarding Oromo Refugees in Egypt
Your Excellency Hisham Mohamed Qandel
Prime Minister of Egypt
Magles El-Shaab St., Kasr Aini St. Cairo
14 June 2013
Re: Oromo Refugees in Egypt
I write on behalf of the Oromo Relief Association UK, for which I am the Office Coordinator in London. The Oromo Relief Association (ORA) is a legally registered non-profit and an indigenous Oromo humanitarian organization, working with refugees, asylum seekers and displaced people in the Horn of Africa.
We members of the Oromo Relief Association in the United Kingdom are very much concerned about the safety of Oromo refugees and asylum seekers, at our Management Committee meeting yesterday evening, it was decided that I should write expressing our concern regarding the recent upsurge in hostility against Oromo refugees from Ethiopia in Cairo. Oromumaa vs. Islamumaa: Mr. Jawar Mohammed’s Controversial Speech
By Iddoosaa Ejjetaa | June 15, 2013
The Oromoo people have unfinished businesses yet. In June 2013, a conference was organized for Ethiopian Muslims in Minneapolis, Minnesota where Mr. Jawar Mohammed made a speech and broadcasted by Oromoo TV has created tremendous waves of reactions from different Oromoo corners including myself. I have watched and listened to the video on YouTube and read responses. I found that I was not alone who disappointed by the speech. Many Oromoo had expressed their disappointment, frustration and feeling that they have been cheated once again. The proponents of the speech expressed their complacencies in different ways. After reading the opinions from both sides about the speech, I have decided to put opinions together from the perspective of Oromumaa vs. Islamummaa for critical analysis, genuine and civil discussions.
I hope that this paper initiate honest, genuine and knowledge-based discussion by diverse social, political and religious groups of the Oromoo people and scholars so as to forge unity of purpose that is based on authentic Oromummaa. It is my hope that all reader of this paper would be thoughtful and genuine broker to close the rift that created as consequence Mr. Jawar Mohmmad’s controversial speech, June 2013. Read more…

Civil Servants in Oromia Forced to Become Members of the OPDO
Firehiwot Guluma Tezera | June 15, 2013
TPLF is forcing Oromo civil servants to become member of the Oromo Peoples’ Democratic Organization (OPDO). The Oromo civil servants are now facing a choice between becoming member of the organization they hate to be associated with, and immerse their hands into the dirty work of OPDO, which is arresting, torturing, and killing innocent Oromo’s, or lose their jobs. Living under difficult economic situation, job loss is a very serious matter which is considered a suicide in the Empire, and, therefore, the Oromo civil servants will have to think twice before saying “no” to the warning of the Wayyaanee authorities and endangering their life and their families.
Contrary to its “democratic” naming, the so called OPDO is an undemocratic “organization” created by the Tigrai Peoples’ Liberation Front (TPLF), from the war prisoners of the former military junta, Mengistu Haile Mariam in the jungles of Tigrai. It is a pseudo organization completely controlled by ruling party, the TPLF. The TPLF regime uses this organization to arrest, harass, torture, and kill innocent Oromo’s who do not support their tyrannical rule. Moreover, the OPDO is used by the TPLF leaders as a tool to abuse their political power and exploit the entire economy of Oromia for their personal account and build their home base of Tigrai regional state.
