Invitation to a Seminar on Revival of Oromummaa

The Oromo Community Organization of Washington DC Area is organizing a seminar on the “Revival of Oromummaa” to be convened on September 1, 2012 from 8:30am-6:30pm at Howard University. The exact address where the seminar will take place is indicated below.
The purpose of this seminar is to examine the past and present weaknesses and strengths of Oromo Nationalism, and to forge a strategy to consolidate national self awareness; to build confidence and pride in one’s own culture and identity; and to apply the outcome of the conference to establish a strong unity among all Oromos of the current and future generations.
The speakers at the forum are professors Asafa Jaleta, Mohammed Hassen, Obbo Ibsa Gutema, and Obbo Habtamu Dhugo. These professionals are prominent Oromo intellectuals whose knowledge and experience of the subject will make the event fruitful and productive.
We invite fellow Oromos to attend this forum which is designed to help us to regain our sense of belongingness as well as to acquire additional knowledge and deepen our understanding of what Oromummaa means to each one of us. Our desire is to see similar events to be replicated in other Oromo communities. We hope all Oromos will come to this seminar and witness the historic event.

Thats good effort from oromo ammunity. Keep on guys. Each and every oromo who has a chance must attend that seminar. We are divided in many parts, so its not time to be divided. Let us be united so that we can over come the problem we face. I wish i could attend that meeting. Oromia shall be free. Injifannoo tan ummata bal’aati.
This move, to my understanding, could had been started so long ago. The Oromo intellectuals residing abroad have been entangled themselves in minor issues than working hard to bring unity and understanding between different Oromo organizations. Do all Oromo people, particularly intellectuals, understand why the Liberation of Oromia is still far fetched? The answer is clear, we are working out the assignments that had been given to us by Minilik, the Devil, who amputated the hands of males and breasts of the Oromo females. Some of us running behind religion and others behind leftovers from our masters. So, you all Oromo intellectuals, please help us to bring into one the different Oromo organizations. Talk to the leaders, do not undermine them. Then, the run to see the librated Oromia would be near. I finally, want to emphasize not to include, Prof. Ephrem Esiak in any of your effort to unit the Oromo organization. He is unseen snare who works to disunite Oromo.
Oromia shall be free.
All Oromos who love Oromia should attend this seminar!

Thank you very much for organizing such a seminar on a Revival of Oromuma and for inviting these Oromo professionals with a genuine Oromumma personalities.
We need an appeal to the young and future Oromo generation. Many young oromo generation as individuals (but not as a Mass or as a whole), are already proud of our culture and identity. But, this individual pride alone does not bear a fruit and does not lead us to our liberation and freedom as long as we do not have unity. As an individuals, we have to first free ourself from different hostagetakings (hostage under colonizers or enemies,hostage under profit, hostage in exile, hostage under different fractions of OLF, hostage under regions or religions etc..) and unite as a free oromo organization for freedom and liberation and afterwards start to think as a free individuals, contribute actively for the oromo unity to take the fate of our future in our hands.
1. every dictatoral regime will weaken and finally cease. Abysinian regime will also cease soon. Be ready for our next fortune (!!) or Misfortune.
2. We cared much about our oromo organizations and oromo liberation fronts, (splitted OLFs, OPDO and other oromo organisations), wished their reunion (merge) and complained about the leaders for a long time. Afterwards nothing changed and instead went even worse.
3. As long as we all oromos are under colony, we need to foster our freedom and liberation. In this respect we all oromo individuals are OLFs. We can unite, actively particpate in our struggle and take our future fate in our hands. The unity for both Bilisumma and Walabumma of oromo and oromia. We do not need to care about the leader, we all together should be the leaders of our struggle for our bilisumma and walabumma. We never be under the hostage of any fake democratic abisiniyan orgnization and also under all undemocratic and fake OLFs again!!

In addition to open meetings our political organizations must deal with their internal problems in secretive ways to avoid unnecessary reactions from immature individuals. Specially they must form storng and robust intelligence units worldwise to follow up the development of anti-oromo elements and crush them at their infancy.

Statement to Condemn the Irresponsible Misrepresentation of the OLF
Over recent weeks, the two wings of the Asmara Group have released “OLF Manifesto – A Secret Manual of OLF Leadership” and series of other documents in the name of the OLF. In these documents they reiterate that they no more believe in the liberation of the Oromo people from the century old brutal and dehumanizing Ethiopian colonialism.
In “OLF Manifesto – A Secret Manual of OLF Leadership” they declare the political objective of struggling for power sharing within the Ethiopian political system, which directly contradicts the values and mission of the OLF and the aspiration of the Oromo people. The objective of the OLF is the restoration of freedom which the Oromo people are denied in Ethiopia and not power sharing with its ruling elite. The officials of the Asmara Group shamelessly speak Amharic and waive at us the Ethiopian flag and grovel to their Abyssinian supporters, all in the name of the OLF.
Their Manifesto is not new to us. This ideological shift from the fundamental object of the OLF by the Asmara Group was the cause that parted us company with them a decade ago. Now, they have come out with it, having kept it under the closet hidden from the Oromo public for a very long time.
Our message to those true Oromo nationalists still working with these two wings is that as Oromos you have no excuse to continue to inadvertently contribute to the crime that is being committed against your people. We extend our patriotic call to you to do the honorable thing and take a stand against the deceivers and come over and join us. As most of you might know we have challenged the leaders of both wings of the Asmara Group to return to the original objective of the OLF, so that we can reenergize our organization around its original objective of liberation of Oromia, but they have chosen to cross over the line and join anti-Oromo political groups instead.
Some of the so called leaders of the two wings of the Asmara Group have no noticeable track record in the long history of the Oromo struggle. In fact, some of these people have been working for the tyrannical and dictatorial Ethiopian regimes, the Derg as well as the Wayyane regime, and are suspected to have committed crime against the Oromo people. Their crimes have not been fully investigated and resolved. Their misrepresentation of the OLF and the Oromo struggle for freedom is causing immense damage to the Oromo people’s just cause. These characters instead of showing remorse and regrets for the crimes they had committed against the Oromo people when they were at the service of the Ethiopian regimes they are trying once again to destroy its organisation, the OLF and its objective.
Having repeatedly demonstrated their clear departure from the path of the liberation struggle, the so called leaders of the two wings of the Asmara Group and their associates have no moral or legitimate authority to represent the OLF in any capacity. In fact, we advise them to form a separate political party that suits their desire.
We urge the Oromo people to stand vigilant and safeguard the struggle at this critical juncture in our history. The Oromo people must not fall for the deception of some dishonest groups labeling themselves OLF. It is advisable to make sure the authenticity of documents and groups before being misled into a trap that is being laid down by confidence men attempting to discredit the OLF.
Our mission remains to continue with the struggle to bring about the realization of Oromo national self-determination and formation of independent republic of Oromia.

we have had many seminars and discussions about the issue of the Horn of Africa in general and about Oromos in particular in different occasions (OSA, TBOA, ORA, Konya x, y etc..).
