Press Release – EPRDF Democratic
Addis Ababa
October 08, 2012
It is to be noted that Ethiopia has been in an economic and political growth in the past two decades although there have been glitches here and there in every aspect of our Nation. Especially, since 2005 our great Country has been registering double digit economic growth. These successes have been garnered through the collaborative efforts of all four member parties, allies and the great people of Ethiopia. Our Front’s oldest member, the Tigrean People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has spearheaded the struggle against the most dictatorial junta in Africa, Mengestu Hailemariam’s Derg, which was finally overthrown through the sacrifices of all EPRDF member parties and the Ethiopian people.
However, despite our hopes and convictions that power and leadership would be evenly distributed and the TPLF will gradually decrease its hegemony, the experience has been otherwise. We, the non TPLF member parties and allies of EPRDF today, are under the full control of the TPLF and it arbitrarily meddles in our internal workings.
Our Party’s economic, security and political clout, as well as our great Country (the current pandemonium within Oromo People’s Democratic Organization (OPDP) is one example of this interference). This has for long created a huge political uncertainty and instability in the country. The international community, the Ethiopian people and all concerned bodies have been worried that this power monopoly could immediately change into civil war or an uncontrollable state of affairs. Considering these scenarios and future risks, We, “Reform Seeking” members of EPRDF Executive Committee and Congress, have been pushing and endeavoring for democratic reforms within our Front and Country. We have been indefatigably arguing and calling the hardcore and extremist sect of our Front’s leadership to make reforms both within our Front and Country. Our group believes that for Ethiopia to continue a democratic and united country; our Front should engage and have a room for each and every Ethiopian party and individual. Matters of the Front should be conducted in fairness and respect to all, besides. We have lobbied that our Front’s policies and programs are obsolete and ought to be reformed.
The hardcore and extremist sects of the EPRDF have so far paid deaf ear to our requests and at times fired most of our colleagues labeling them “opposition aficionados and neoliberals”. Similarly, our high hopes of immediate reforms following the death of our great leader, the late Meles Zenawi, the incoming leader, Hailemariam Dessalgn, sadly reiterated the unwavering stands of the hardcore and extremist groups of EPRDF. He stepped on our repeated calls for reforms and democratization within our Front and Country.
Therefore, we “Reform Seeking” members of the EPRDF,
- Convinced that EPRDF members and Ethiopians have the right and vested interest to democracy, equality and freedom of/in their Country,
- Conscious that the continued “unwillingness and refusal” of the hardcore and extremist sects of EPRDF endangers the unity of our Front and the national security and regional stability of Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa,
- Aware that there is a necessity for an immediate and cross sectional reform in policies, programs, leadership and structures of our Front, we “Reform Seeking” members of the EPRDF declare that we have formed EPRDF Democratic (EPRDF D).
We therefore, urge the armed forces, member parties, regional states and international community to stand with the new and reformed EPRDF D. In the coming days, we will launch our website and publish our new leadership, Party programs and policies.

The Climax is reached and afterwards time is for change, democracy and freedom.
OPDO go on for change, freedom and independence from inside!!
Viva !
Go ahead!
No retreat ;no surrender!!!
Devise timely strategies!!!!
Nothing that comes from so-called EPRDF is believable. Furthermore, how much freedom do you they have in a police state to excercise what they belive in?
That is legetimate and it is very important to move country forward with allowing equal distribution in a govenment (more political integration not assimilation) and sharing resourcess (not explotation). Otherwise the entire country will face civilwar this is no question. Look at Hailesellase’s end, Derg, syriaya, libiya and others. On other side look at south africa, berma, and others. It is a very keen and effective way that dictatorial party commited to bringing change and power sharing oth other fellow Ethiopians otherwise its very bad to put economic progress back ward. We must support this groupt to bring the change that is necessory. Today, we have learned what have happened to Somalia, kosovo, Ruwanda, and othe ccontrolled by dictators. I think Ethiopia need new vission not only on economy but on govenance, human right, and technology. We must learn to bring about change. Derg and northern front spent allots of rsourcess on nonsense war that cost many lives and our futres. If we were to invest that money on education, health, infrusctures, and agriculture, technology, we could be like south koria by now. let us have a mentality that we don’t have to fight to have our internal problem selved. We must unite on our national security to defend our nation from foreign treat. When i am saying this those who control the govenment must not keep the govenment for them selves it is not benefit to them or others. If we solve our internal problem by peace the govenment addmiting that the country is for all of us not belong to TLF only, we can save and allot better. This kind of contrl by TPLF is not going to get benefit any one, neither them for long run. We must recognize our diversity in culture, language, geography, and ideology. if we put all these into one, we can build the best nation in Africa. True fedralism is the only solution to Ethiopian problem not psudo TPLF lead fedralism. I would like to conclude that TPLF learn from the history. Whatever they are doing now is that it is the aparthide act, oppresive, ethinic cleansing, and exploitation this would endangers our unity as a nation please don’t put our country in a such cproplem. please learn from the mistake and learn from history.
That is what millions of Ethiopian were seeking for decades and centuries. It is the time to unit and work hand in hand for democracy in Ethiopian.
I am dead sure that our Waaqjira would not give this kind of comment. I know who you are, you are one of the semantic group so use your own name. Don’t get confused! You must have your own stand not somebody else. So please be yourslef when you give comments. After all it doesn’t help, everybody knows oneslef.
Jima,
I am intrigued the way you replied to Waqjira. Why do you think this person is not an Oromo? Actually, he gave a very sober and decent analysis of the situation, way far sighted and mature than many would understand. Beside, it is very unhealthy to entertain a view point all Oromos should think in exactly the same way regarding the way we set out our problem.
This person talked about peace and federalism, etc. That is all. And there are established Oromo views organized as political parties and representing this direction for solving our problem. So, please please let’s grow up, and get mature a bit. Simply because his view does not fit into yours and a stereotype of a section of Oromo activists, you just should not tarnish his idea.
You should admit that you differ but please do not try to deny him his Oromoness because he disagrees with you. We need to develop a culture of a “normal society” where it is ok to disagree and still respect each other.
I felt the way your replied to Waqjira was totally unfair and unreasonable. I thought it is good that I drop you this reminder to let you reflect on the matter.
Eventhough the wish is good this is deliberately designed by TPLF to crash self-esteem OPDO members for Democracy. By doing such they wanted to get feed back and diffirenciate who is who?
Here are my favor quotes: “There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere” Nelson Mandela;
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962);
It’s the most unhappy people who most fear change.Mignon Mclaughlin, The Second Neurotic’s Notebook (1966);
There’s no question in my mind but that rights are never won
unless people are willing to fight for them.
Eleanor Smeal, 1985 speech to National Press Clubr .
It is long overdue so do not retreat and move forward with your reforms… If you are authentic about this reform, I have doubt in mind majority of Oromo and other Ethiopian will stand with your shoulders to shoulders.
Taha Roba
Bravo!
Go ahead! It is not too late !!!
No retreat ;no surrender!!!
Devise timely strategies!!!!
You are at a point of no return!!!!!!!!
This is really a very important development. This is a true ways of bringing change and democracy to that nation. EPRDF D go aherad, I will join you soon.
Oromia,to join weyane no need apointment just go ahead and join them soon or later you will see what gonna hapen to you.No no no let me tell you what will hapen right now they will use you and finaly kick your ass.
Dear friends,
Please do not be deceived by this propoganda. This is the work of Bereket Simon and co. They deliberately fabricate such false scenario in order to check and control the political dynamics in the party and in the country at large.
TPLF group of Sibhat want OPDO to side them the Bereket group also the same thing. That is why Bereket mentioned ‘TPLF interference into OPDO matter’ it is funny to hear today after 21 years of TPLF interference into Oromo matter and OPDO power. Why Bereket Mentioned now? Where was he for 21 years? May be tyrant Meles prevented him? If so why he call him ‘great leader’? Bereket hated Oromo at ministerial positions; that is why prime minister and vice positions which Oromo deserve ignored but want to use them as a tool to fight TPLF of Sibat Group.
WHile hundreds of Oromo youngsters arrested from Irrecha festival are under torture in Me’ikelawi, Bereket talk this fake party to divert attention. Oromo aware don’t be a tool for shrewd.
Just strengthen your unity and Oromummaa and march forward. This could either be disinformation or real. The TPLF is defeated diplomatically and politically. It is in turmoil and as an old saying goes Hummer the iron while it is hot.
Difama jarana abbaan ta’e gubbanatti maqaa Jima jedhe yaada kennera. Maqaa heduutu jira. Maalif akka kana filate hin beeku. Ani dubbesituman irra darbe. Debi’ee yoon ilaalu abbaan ta’e maqaa kanaan yaada kenneera. Yaa rabbi. KKK
I share the opinion that this is the tactic TPLF is attempting to use to identify its foes and supporters with in EPRDF. Oromos in the EPRDF must be alert not to be deceived by TPLF deceivers. Just to mention some logic:
* How and from where does this splinter group operates? It is known that any political organization that has a view different of TPLF cannot operate freely from Ethiopia.
* Who initiated this splinter?
Ilmoon bofaa bofuma. EPRDF-A, EPRDF-B,…jechuun maqaa itti moggaasuun waan jijjiru hinqabu. EPRDF ka Woyyanee ture;har’as ka isaanii ti;borus ka isaanii ti. dis the card woyane cadres are playing in political gambling. please be wise to dis issue. they wanna to bring second gobana in oromo nation. please wake up oromo leaders! why u r nt feel anything like them for ur society? do u waana to kill ur father/mother? now the time is up OPDO. don be yeast for second woyanes party to motivate peoples.
Yes, you will be a laughing stock forever
Mortar,
I totally agree with you. EPRDF has a history of fomenting internal disagreement to test who is who in its party to purge the disloyal members and replace them with loyal members. Whenever EPRDF wants to clean its party from internal wrangles, it establishes agents of provocation who can establish a ground for the expulsion of those it suspect to be destabilizing elements. This has been modus operand of this colonial organization. Remember, to get support of Shiree people, how TPLF provoked Derge air force to bombard Shiree people on the market day. EPRDF is just making drama to rationalize the expulsion of the members it suspect or members who out lived more than EPRDF expected them to live. No time for us to waste our time on the homework created for us by Wayyanee but work on uniting OLF camps and be ready to force them out of our beloved country Oromia.
No lies about change! We are tired of the change slogan. Ours is only and only independent Oromia.Not less and not more. The time of confusing Oromo people is over. The confused people like Leencoo Lataa are out of our eyes so we are liberated from the confused members in OLF now and what remains is to be united in objective and march toward independent Oromia.
Independence is excellent but what is VERY FAR from Excellence is when people who are absolutely unable to take a single tiny step forward towards that independence they are advocating are ONLY talking about the single GIANT step towards independence nothing but independence now or death is NOT at all convincing. Sounds ONLY like the usual factional power struggle which kept the great Oromo people under the shameful feet of a tiny minority tyrants while factions are struggling for sitting on the heads of the ordinary people with out even asking their permission through democratic referendum or other consensual approaches. Changing Abesha minority tyrants with Oromo dictatorial tyrants is like changing white colonialist tyrants with the current black African tyrant rulers. In both cases, the people suffer greatly since democracy, equality,broad based welfare and justice for all is missing totally.
Dear Ayyaantuu,
I checked some websites and couldn’t get any clue about this press releases. If any one tries such move, I would appreciate but suspect its success and victory over the gangsters due to many factors in side and around the system.

Dear All,
I think this the so call EPRDF D. is a response from Ginbote 7 for recent release Ginbot7.D by aiga forum. Go and visit the Aiga website.
The two Abysinian tribes are playing crazy. Apparently, they think, by uttering the word ‘democratic’, one can become a democrat. What an illusion.
It looks like they need another 3000 years (the same amoun of time they have been ensalaved under one man system of crule rulers) to understand what democracy is.
